Data Protection

Drive Redundancy
Perhaps the most affordable data protection available today, drive redundancy provides protection for your data against one of the most common causes of data loss, the hard drive crash. A computer or file server utilizing drive redundancy has 2 or more internal hard drives, rather than a single drive. With help from a controller card, your critical data is stored at each hard disk simultaneously. Should one of these drives fail, the secondary drive continues to operate. Repairs to this system can be made at the earliest convenient time, and the network remains in operation while awaiting those repairs. All of the file servers provided by Intechgrate Systems use this technology, and it is available as an option for workstations as well.

Please note – drive redundancy does not protect your data from accidental deletion or corruption, and should not be used as your only form of backup.

FYI - The most common drive redundancy is also known by the name “drive mirror” as it uses 2 disks that are a mirror reflection of each other.
Multiple disk systems are sometimes referred to as RAID, (redundant array of independent disks), followed by a number that indicates their level. Take note: RAID-0 is not redundant at all; it is instead an arrangement that combines the capacities of 2 more disks to each other. RAID-0 is also known as “disk striping”.

On Site Backups
This group of solutions has many members, including tape drives, external disk drives, and removable media of all shapes and sizes. While most business networks today include file servers or PCs that include at least one of these technologies, a good solution is one that runs automatically and has sufficient capacity to store all of the network’s critical data. It is also important to note that automated on-site backups should be verified by someone within your business frequently.
The technical staff of Intechgrate Systems has expertise with many on-site backup solutions, including high speed USB external hard drives, tape devices, and software including Acronis True Image, Yosemite Tapeware and Symantec Backup Exec.

Off Site Backups
As high speed internet access has become more and more common place, many businesses have turned towards off-site backup technologies which reduce the burdens and risks inherent to tape and other on site backup solutions. This technology involves an agent program that runs at the server or PC where the critical data resides, which creates a backup copy of that data in a secured folder located at the solution provider’s internet server. These internet servers are sometimes referred to as “vaults” In contrast to the typical on-site backup, off-site backups make only one full backup at the time the solution is first installed. Subsequent backup jobs only target data that has changed since the original backup job processed. This allows for the backup operation to complete more quickly, even over relatively slow internet connections.

Intechgrate Systems offers an industry leading off site backup solution that you'll find surprisingly secure and affordable.

Business Continuance Planning
Business continuance planning is a process that should be undertaken by small and medium size companies, not just their larger counterparts. Business continuity planning is essential to help a company prepare for the unforeseen; from hardware failures to large scale disasters.
Intechgrate Systems can help your company along this path, first by identifying your critical business processes and their related applications, and next by providing assistance in the development of a disaster recovery plan.

FYI – Many of the planning limitations within which IT professionals have been confined are being removed through innovative technologies such as Virtual Iron which allows your critical server operations to run independent of specific hardware.

Data Recovery
Occasionally the need for better data protection first makes itself known to businesses only after data loss has occurred. In these cases, typically more than one system or plan has failed.

Intechgrate Systems owns licensing for several sophisticated data recovery utilities, to return your lost data even after your disk fails and your backups are found to be unusable. While the results can not be guaranteed, our success rate in this area is high.

When our recovery utilities fail to provide favorable results, Intechgrate Systems can coordinate further efforts through our partnership with OnTrack DataRecovery. OnTrack’s In-Lab services utilize state of the art clean rooms, and provide the fastest turn around time in the industry.
