Network Security

Firewalls
A firewall is a barrier to keep unwanted access from your computer. In fact, that's why it’s called a firewall. Its job is similar to a building’s firewall, which is designed to keep flames from spreading from one area to the next.

A firewall device typically acts as a gateway to the internet for the network’s PCs. An example is the Firebox® X Edge E-Series router. Computers in your network connect to the router, which in turn is connected to either a cable or DSL modem. Devices of this kind are often configured via a web-based interface.

At Intechgrate Systems, we are familiar with a variety of firewall devices that range widely in cost and sophistication. We can help determine which device is best suited to your network’s requirements, and provide installation services.

Anti-Malware
A critical component of today’s business networks, an effective anti-malware solution can be a vaulable line of defense between your network and hours of down time.

The very best solution offers layers of protection, including workstation based software that actively scans files as they are accessed; as well as perimeter based protection that scans email and web traffic at the gateway to block malicious threats before they can enter your network.
After reviewing many anti-malware solutions with varying results, Intechgrate Systems concluded that Authentium’s Command Antivirus® best met the workstation based criteria. Furthermore, this product’s scan engine ran up to 50% faster than other utilities and more accurately identified threats. Its memory resident components require fewer resources than its brand name competitors.

Watchguard's Gateway AntiVirus/Intrusion Prevention Service (Gateway AV/IPS) with anti-spyware is a signature-based, integrated security subscription that identifies and blocks known threats in real time. It provides protection from spyware, trojans, viruses , buffer overflows, SQL injections, instant messaging and P2P usage, and policy violations.
Intechgrate Systems technical specialists are well versed in the deployment and maintenance of Command Antivirus® and Watchguard's Gateway AntiVirus/Intrusion Prevention Service.

Anti-Spam

There are essentially two families of anti-spam protection available for your email inbox today. The first of these families is "Filtration" and uses a set of rules or scoring algorythms to determine if an inbound message is unsolicited (spam) or legitimate. The filtering software may reside at your local computer, as part of your email client software; or it may reside at your email server. While filteration solutions have advanced considerably over time, there always exisits a chance that legimate email may be trapped, and spam email may be allowed through.

The second family, known as "Challenge/Response", dynamically creates a list of legitimate senders and traps all messages from other sources. Senders who have not previsouly been validated are presented a simple task, such as clicking a link, that authorizes their current and future messages for delivery. This method is both highly effective and highly accurate.

Intechgrate Systems Spam Control offers the flexibility to add Challenge/Response anti-spam to your existing email accounts without changing your email provider.  A web based interface allows for review of trapped messages as well as sender lists management. More information is available here.
